Dear R3 Family,
We hope you all are staying safe and healthy. At this time when we are all experiencing a pandemic, generosity is what brings people together. Even as we practice social distancing, we can remain connected through kindness and generosity.
We are writing to you because we would like to tell you about two important giving days that are going on next week, #GivingTuesdayNow and Give STL Day.
#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity, set to take place on May 5, 2020, as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. By giving, you’re helping us empower youth to take control of their future by helping them become employable, and also helping us to “flatten the curve” of youth unemployment in our community. In a time when our country is seeing rapid job-loss due to economic instability, our students must understand that entry-level employment can’t meet their long-term needs.
Even as many face financial uncertainties, generosity is not about size. From calling an elderly neighbor to showing gratitude to our healthcare workers, or donating to our favorite organization, every act of kindness is a beacon of hope in this crisis. We all have something to give, and every act of human consideration and kindness matters.
The other important giving day is Give STL Day, happening only 2 days later on Thursday, May 7, 2020. Give STL Day is a 24-hour online giving event organized by the St. Louis Community Foundation to grow philanthropy in the St Louis metropolitan area. All donations made on this day are 100% tax-deductible. Your donation can be made at any time during the 24-hour period, or you can even go ahead and make your donation today, early giving has begun!
Whether you give, do an act of kindness, or share this online using the hashtag #R3allin, we are calling you, R3 family, to save the dates and join us on May 5 and May 7 to help us make a difference in the lives of our youth and the city of East St. Louis!
