2020 SUMMER WORK ACADEMY
The R3 Development Summer Work Academy is an opportunity for Student Interns to participate in paid workforce development activities. This summer will focus on serving the East St. Louis community with a large effort to clean up streets and alleys in the Lansdowne community. We invite volunteers to interact with our students and be a part of this effort. The only requirement is a desire to serve with others and make a tangible difference in the life of a student and the heart of a community. The summer internship will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from June 9th through July 30th. We plan to have 15 interns. They will be trained in the following areas: Leadership development, cooking, math, shop, career development, admin & logistics.
In the past, you have generously provided meals, funds, and volunteer support for our internships. Due to Covid-19, things are going to look a little different for us, and we will not be asking for volunteers to prepare and serve food. Instead, we are reaching out for financial donations to cover the cost of our internship.
This year, a select team of students will be preparing and serving the meals. We believe this will not only provide a healthy, contained environment for food preparation, but it will also teach food safety and service skills to our students.
For $6.00 per day, you can supply a healthy breakfast, lunch, and a snack for one student.
For $135.00 per week, you can completely cover the internship cost for one student, which includes meals, clothing, workbooks, construction materials, and a work stipend.
