INTERNSHIPS

We offer week-long, 35-hour, paid internships for high-school youth. These internships teach, not only, construction and job skills training, but they also create an ecosystem of hope. Through trusting relationships, youth are given the opportunity to slow down and reflect on their life journey. As they reflect on their place and value in this world, they learn to tell their own story and develop the skills necessary to overcome their roadblocks.  Whether in the classroom or on the construction job site, youth learn the value and skills required to thrive in life and successfully enter the workforce. All this happens while earning a paycheck, many for their first time.

Through a partnership with the local school district, we offer before and after school leadership and character development classes that focus on freeing up youth to dream and lead with confidence. Our training has an emphasis on four areas:

PRE-APPRENTICESHIP

CONSTRUCTION

PROGRAM

18-24-year-olds, with a skillset and desire to enter the trades, are offered a paid pre-apprenticeship opportunities at a duration of 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months. Our program offers advanced construction skills training on home rehab job sites, training by skilled construction staff and contractors. It also includes math skills education and TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) and WorkKeys test preparation, which are required tests to pass to get into many trade jobs. Our program also assists students with driver’s training, driving test preparation, and driver’s license acquisition. We place a significant focus on personal and professional development. Through close mentorship, coaching and accountability, apprentices will be regularly evaluated on personal habits, character, attitude, and goals as well as the necessary skills needed to be successful in a construction career.
